Homoeopathy has been used worldwide for over 200 years.
It is a system of natural medicine made into a diluted and potentised medicine drawn from the plant, mineral and animal kingdoms. The remedies are made into tablets, small pillules or liquids for the patient to take orally.
Homoeopathy is suitable for people of any age, including babies and pregnant women, as it has no known side effects, and is tested not on animals or sick people, but on healthy people in order to see what symptoms are produced. These then become the symptoms that the remedy will cure.
How does it work?
Homoeopathy uses a healing method of
similars —that is, for example, the plant
Belladonna causes high fevers, but when diluted and potentised, can cure them.
The similar medicine acts as a stimulus to the body’s own natural healing abilities, giving it the encouragement it needs to complete its healing work. When a person becomes ill there is an imbalance and the appropriate homeopathic medicine will stimulate the body into action again and rebalance it to health.
What can it treat?
Clinical trials have shown homoeopathy to be effective in eczema, psoriasis, asthma, otitis media, glue ear, teething, behavioural problems in children, as well as recurrent coughs, colds and low susceptibility.
Allergies to foods or pollens can often be greatly lessened after homoeopathic treatment. Menstrual and other women’s problems such as menopausal symptoms can be treated effectively with Homoeopathy.
Homoeopathy is also effective in emotional disorders such as grief, shock, anxiety and depression.
About me
I have a lifelong interest and passion for healing, spirituality, caring for the earth and the food that we grow and eat. I became strongly connected to natural healing when I had children in the 1990s, and began studying and using herbal medicine for the family, growing my own herbs for use, and discovered homeopathy when my first child was a baby. He was prescribed antibiotics for a chest infection. These upset his stomach, so I used a homeopathic remedy prescribed by my pharmacist who was also a homeopath. It was the success of this treatment that led me to read widely on the subject and to the realisation of how powerful and effective the remedies were. That was more than 30 years ago.
I graduated from the Contemporary College of Homeopathy in 2002 and was in practice in Stroud until I relocated to Cornwall in 2023. I help families improve their health and vitality and have a lot of experience treating menopausal women, as well as running the low cost drop in Children’s Clinic in Stroud for a few years with a colleague. I have also trained in food and substance allergy testing. Homoeopathy can often help with these sorts of problems too, as allergies and intolerances are often imbalances in the immune system.
Homoeopathy can be curative in many illnesses, even in “acutes”, which we call intense, short-lived illnesses for which you may usually buy over the counter medicines, or visit your GP for antibiotics, e.g. flu, coughs, ear infections, cystitis, burns, injuries. In such cases you can be prescribed a homoeopathic remedy which can work as quickly and effectively as antibiotics. In these cases a short 20 –30 minute consultation can be used.
